The treatment facility was completed in 2005 and
began filtering water in January 2006. The facility was constructed
to bring the Town of Clinton's water system into compliance with
the Surface Water Treatment Rule and the Lead and Copper Rule
of the Safe Drinking Water Act. The facility includes equipment
capable of filtering up to 5 million gallons of water per day
and is designed to remove potentially harmful bacteria, naturally
occurring organic matter and other pathogens that may be present
in the water.
